Sovelius House

The oldest survived dwelling house in Raahe is the Sovelius House built in 1780’s. It is a typical upper middle class house from 18th century, even the Carolinian floor plan can still be seen on both floors.

Sovelius House is still owned by the Sovelius Foundation. Raahe Museum has rented it for its own use.

On  the ground floor, restored in Art Nouveau style, there are the museums office and rooms for changing exhibitions. The first floor has been restored as a wealthy home of a shipowner and merchant in 1890’s.
