Slopes and trails
Levi’s record-breaking winter ski season can start as early as October and lasts well into May. The wide range of slopes offers options for amateurs and beginners, as well as challenges for experienced veterans on the red and black slopes. Families with kids will be delighted to find Kid’s Land and Leeviland for the little ones, as well as three snow parks for freestyle skiers and snowboarders of different levels. There are slopes in six different directions and guests can move freely from one slope to another during the day. Some of the routes pass through the forests offering protection from the wind and great off-piste experiences. Ski buses also shuttle conveniently between different slopes.
The front slopes leading to the centre of Levi are mainly red slopes, while the longer southern slopes are perfect for beginners and families with children. On the western slopes you will find alpine level challenges on the Levi Black slope as well as the gondola lift and the new Levi West chair lift. On the northeast slopes visitors will find the longest, red-rated slopes in the resort, and experience the dizzying excitement of the well-marked Free Ski area. The south-eastern slopes are a relaxed internship place for families and beginners, and is also where the main parking area is located.
There is 230 km of well maintained track network and 28 km of lighted trails in varying terrain for cross-country skiing, through the beautiful mountain landscape. Along the trails skiers and snowshoers will find cafes and lounges where they can linger, gather strength, enjoy snacks and the atmosphere by an open fire.
Winter biking, snowshoeing and hiking
Visitors can also explore the snowy fell terrain without skis, for example by winter biking or on snowshoes. The Levi region has ready-made, well-maintained and clearly marked snowshoeing, winter biking, and hiking trails. Of course, snowshoeing is also possible, whether exploring on your own or taking part in guided snowshoe trips with local experts. From the saddle of a Fatbike, the landscape changes lightly and quickly through the landscapes of Kätkätunturi, Immeljärvi and Levitunturi.
All the equipment needed for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, fat biking, or snowshoeing can be rented from the many equipment rentals both in Levi centre and on the South Slopes, which serve from morning to night.
Huskies, reindeer and horses
Husky and reindeer safaris, along with farm visits, are among the highlights for families with kids vacationing in Levi, as they are for nature and animal lovers of all ages. Riding a husky sled, visitors experience the thrill of speed while enjoying the silence of winter fell nature and its magnificent scenery. Husky farms are always happy to entertain guests, allowing them to get to know these delightful dogs better. A reindeer sleigh ride is a gentler affair, journeys pass smoothly and everyday worries are forgotten. Reindeer rides and reindeer farm visits are also part of Levi’s winter activities, as horse treks.

It’s Christmas every day in the the Elves’ Experience Village (“Tonttula”), where children and adults from around the world are welcome all year round. On The Tonttula Elves’ Village’s winter adventure you’ll discover the Gingerbread House, where elves bake every day of the year; an Elf School where you can learn the Elvish Code, Elf Detective skills and much more; and the Wise Elf´s House, decorated with an enormous crystal containing healing powers. Take a peek inside Seitakivi, where elves, geese and other forest folk live in natural harmony, respecting and helping each other. In the yard of The Elves’ Village you will find a large reindeer paddock, a sheep paddock, small ponies, and a chicken yard. Located right in the centre of Levi, Kinos Safaris equips winter adventurers and offers a wide range of hiking and adventure services, including renting snowmobiles, whether for a few hours or several days. There is a wide range of safaris to choose from in their weekly program. Visitors can start an unforgettable winter holiday in Levi with one of the Kota, Leviloop or Kätkäloop snowmobile safaris lasting 2-3 hours. Kotasafari is well suited for beginners, the route runs through snowy forests to a wilderness hut where you take a break and enjoy coffee brewed over an open fire. The Leviloop route runs across frozen lakes and swamps, and on through snowy forests, right next to Levitunturi. In good weather, visitors can reach the top of Levitunturi to admire the scenery. Kätkäloop is suitable for more experienced snowmobile drivers, the route runs in varying terrain around Kätkätunturi.
Are you dreaming of seeing the Aurora Borealis? Kinos Safaris offer a range of Northern Lights safaris beginning as early as August-September and continuing until April. On the 6pm evening safari, take a snowmobile ride through the snowy, dark and quiet mountain nature to the wilderness hut, where you can enjoy sausages fried and coffee brewed on an open fire. After the break, drive back to Levi Center, hopefully in the glow of the Northern Lights.
