The Lutheran church of Varkaus
The Lutheran church of Varkaus is a rare example of a functionalist building with Classical touches. It was designed by architect Martti Paalanen, was completed on the eve of The Winter War in 1939. The altar fresco, When the Kingdom Comes, by professor Lennart Segerstråle is the largest in the Nordic countries, measuring 242 m2.
