Harakka Island
The island of Harakka is located close to the centre of Helsinki by Kaivopuisto park. It is very popular recreational area for the inhabitants of Helsinki.
The Cultural Centre rents studios out to professional artists and artisans in a building called the Artists’ house. The Nature House of the City of Helsinki Environment Centre is also located on the island. Guided tours make it possible to observe the bird species, rare plants, butterflies and marine life in their natural habitats.
There’s a daily motorboat service from April to October. The ferry leaves from Kaivopuisto park, Ullanlinna dock next to Café Ursula. In the summer the artists organise exhibitions on the island.
