Joensuu Market Hall & Square

In addition to the Market Hall and Square, there is a traditional, two-day open-air market (markkinat in Finnish) four times a year with the market place full of stands and people – definitely worth visiting.

The square is suitable also for other use than trade fairs. On the market square has been organised, for example, the opening ceremony of the world championship of biathlon, a snowboarding show, events of Joen Yö (Night by the river) and Popkatu (Pop-street), opening of Christmas and May Day celebrations. In summer the market square transforms into a culture market, when the Culture services of Joensuu produce versatile programme to the market square stage.
