Kuopio Art Museum

Kuopio Art Museum, located in the centre of Kuopio, is housed in a former bank building converted into a museum that opened in 1980. As the regional art museum of Northern Savo Province, the museum includes exhibitions, research and documentation of visual arts.

Art education plays a central role in the museum activities. The collections include primarily Finnish art from the end of the Nineteenth Century to the present, with an emphasis on local painters, from the von Wright Artist Brothers and Juho Rissanen to the contemporary artists. The central theme of museum is nature and the environment.

The museum shop offers an extensive selection of publications and postcards related to the exhibitions, stationery and art supplies.
