Lauritsala Church – Heavenly Light
Lauritsala Church was designed by Toivo Korhonen and Jaakko Laapot, and built in 1969. This magnificent building has a dynamic sculptural form, vaguely suggestive of a ski jump, and uses concrete surfaces as an element of it’s architecture, which were new concepts in Finland at the time.
The interior design features a lot of wooden decoration and a cross made by the Polish artist Radoslaw Gryta, which he donated to the church. The textiles are by the artist Dora Jung.
