Lenin Museum

The museum is located in the hall where Lenin convened Russian revolutionaries in 1905 and 1906. The museum displays material on Lenin and the history of the Russian revolution, as well as Lenin’s contacts with Finland. The Lenin Museum might be small in size but its significance cannot be underestimated. It is not a mere coincidence that the museum was established in Tampere. The location is a landmark of an essential part of political history between Finland and the Soviet Union.

The Finnish Lenin Museum has a unique story. This is where Lenin and Stalin met for the first time, in a secret meeting of the Bolsheviks in December 1905. They started planning a revolution which later changed world history and also made it possible for Finland to become independent.

The newly renovated Lenin Museum opened on the 17th of June 2016.  The new exhibition presents the shared history of Finland and Russia in a touching and critical way. Lenin Museum welcomes you to a fascinating tour to the events of the Russian Revolution, Stalin’s Gulag, the World War II, Finlandization and the Collapse of the Soviet Union.
