Päijänne National Park

Päijänne National Park is located in southern Lake Päijänne, the second largest lake in Finland. The park covers approximately fifty uninhabited islands and islets, as well as parts of some inhabited ones. It is situated in the regions of Asikkala, Padasjoki, and Sysmä.

At the heart of the park lies Kelvenne, one of Finland’s largest esker islands, formed by glacial activity during the Ice Age.  Other notable esker islands within the park include Papinsaari, Huhtsaari, and Hietasaari,

The park’s prominent geological features include Pulkkilanharju, a scenic esker ridge in Asikkala.
