Posio Ethnographic Museum
The Ethnographic Museum of the Posio Municipality is located on the southern shores of Lake Kitkajärvi in the village of Lohiranta – a place worth a visit for exploring its cultural environment and landscape. The distance from the municipal centre to the museum is about 40 kilometres. The museum is only open during the summertime.
The grounds of the museum also hold the Lohi-Päätalo main building made from logs in 1895 as well as the relocated stables and small barn.
The main building has been decorated in popular rustic style. Some of the furniture are the building’s original furniture. The collection includes around 1150 peasantry items from the Posio district that mainly date back to 1850 – 1940.
