Salamajärvi National Park

Salamajärvi National Park is located in Central Finland, in the remote watershed region of Suomenselkä. It offers a chance to experience wilderness-like landscapes along peaceful paths that follow the tracks of the Wild Forest Reindeer.

The park lies within the rugged and scenic Suomenselkä region, a vast uninhabited area known for its rich mire ecosystems and characteristic wildlife. The area includes ancient forests and serene forest lakes in their natural state. The landscape features wide open bogs dotted with forested islets, alternating with dry, rocky pine forests. In some parts, the terrain shifts into continuous stone fields, adding to the park’s raw and untouched character.
