South Karelia Museum

The collections in the South Karelia Museum are based on museum collections from Lappeenranta, Käkisalmi and Vyborg. The main exhibition Basic “On the border – Three Karelian towns” focuses on  Lappeenranta, Vyborg and Käkisalmi and the roots of South Karelia. Visitors are introduced to local prehistory and livliehoods of the people from that region. The main attraction here is the scale model of the town of Vyborg as it was in 1939, prior to Russian annexation. There is also a separate exhibition and a play room for children. The museum also displays several changing exhibitions every year.
