Villa Kokkonen, Alvar Aalto´s masterpiece
Situated on the far side of Lake Tuusula is the Alvar Aalto designed Villa Kokkonen, one of the few private homes desinged by Finland’s most famous architect. It was built in 1969 as the home for the composer Joonas Kokkonen, and has been called Aalto’s first sketch for the Finlandia concert hall in Helsinki. The centre of the home is a large study which was designed around the grand piano which remains there today. The villa’s collection of artefacts and library include over 3000 books, audio records, art objects and original furniture.
