Wanha Markki
Wanha Markki is a traditional Ostrobotnian country house, which hosts an artists’ atelier and a retirement home for animals. The house is kept up by two devoted artists, painter Heikki Laaksonen and ceramist Liisa-Cristiina Laaksonen. They have renovated the old courtyard and its buildings to match the original 19th century atmosphere and they also work and live at the premises. At Wanha Markki you will find shops for gifts and handicrafts, an outdoor summer cafe, catering service and naturally all the residents of the animals’ retirement home!
